Francois Linke nació en Pankraz, Bohemia, en 1855 y falleció en París en 1946.
Luego de un aprendizaje en Bohemia, Linke estableció un taller independiente en 1881 en Faubourg Saint-Antoine 170, centro del comercio de muebles en París. Estableció su representación como maestro en la Paris Exposition Universelle de 1900. Allí arriesgó su fortuna en el esfuerzo para presentar su estilo totalmente nuevo de muebles. Estilísticamente, los nuevos diseños aún se adhieren al Rococó. La novedad, sin embargo, fue la fusión de Linke del Rococó con la vivacidad y fluidez del "art noveau".
La Revue llama a las creaciones de Linke "entierement noveau" y continúa diciendo que el stand de Linke es el show más grande de la historia de los muebles artísticos del año 1900. Fue condecorado con la medalla de oro. Este cambio de dirección artística nunca fue repetido. Su enorme éxito en esto le permitió adquirir showrooms en el place Vendome. Linke continuó usando estas ferias internacionales como medio para explorar nuevos mercados. Francois Linke was born in Pankraz, Bohemia, in 1855 and died in Paris in 1946.
After an apprenticeship in Bohemia, Linke set up an independent workshop in 1881 ay 170 Faubourg Saint-Antoine, the hub of the Paris furniture trade. He established his reputation as a master at the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle. There he risked his fortune in an effort to present his totally new style of forniture. Stilistically, the new designs still adhered to the Rococo. The novelty, however, was Linke´s fusion of Rococo with the liveliness and fluidity of the "art noveau". The Revue calls Linke´s creations entiérement nouveau, and continues to say that "Linke´s stand is the biggest show in the history of art furniture in the year 1900..." He was awarded the gold medal. this change in artistic direction was never to be repeated. His enormous success there enabled him to acquire showrooms in the place Vendome. Linke continued to use these international fairs as a means of exploring new markets. He exhibited at the 1904 World´s Fair in St. Louis where he was awarded a gold medal, one year later at the Liége in Belgium, and then in 1908 in London at the Franco-British exhibition.
